About Squonk Academy of the Arcane

​Established in 1687, Squonk Academy of the Arcane was founded by a Witch known as Lilith Nightshade alongside the assistance of five entities; Wendigo, Snawfus, Mothman (Known to the academy as Lepisapien), Hoop Snakes, and the Squonk. The academy has been known for an unparalleled commitment to teaching all students of all manner of magick and the arcane arts with equal understandings in all aspects.

Squonk Academy does not refer to students by different terms as Hogwarts and some other magickal schools do, instead every student is a Witch regardless of their birth or in their capability in magick.

Students with or without magick are taught equally as we aid in discovering each student’s individual gifts and abilities. Magick is everywhere and in all things, it only takes knowledge to understand and discover them.

The academy opened its gates to magickal and non-magickal students alike based on Nightshade's beliefs that not all magick is born, but discovered. Since then she was never proven wrong as many non-magickal students flourished equally alongside their magickal classmates

The United States variation of Quidditch forbids the use of wand usage and brooms, in exchange it is done with taming and caring for Gryphons and Keythongs as a better representation of skill since both creatures are difficult to tame. In older renditions, this form of Quidditch used Dragons and then changed to what students know today.

While other magickal schools use the term Prefects, this school calls such a student as Warden and they are decided not by the House Head (Head Of House), but by the House Guardian. When the time comes for the final year of schooling for the current Warden of a House, the House Guardian begins the search for an apprentice of the Warden to take their place and through that year the Warden teaches their replacement all they know about their House Guardian and their role and duties as warden. From thereon, the House Head guides the new Warden.
